What the job involves

This work involves responsibility for the administration of first aid when the services of professional medical personnel are unavailable or not required. The work is performed under the general direction of a physician or Registered Professional Nurse. However, the employee is expected to act independently when administering routine first aid, or in the event direction from a medical professional is not available. The employee may also be required to perform routine record keeping. Supervision over the work of others is not normally a function of this class. Does related work as required

Minimum qualifications

Certification by the New York State Department of Health as an Emergency Medical Technician.
The following must be submitted with your application:
A copy of original certification and current registration to practice as an Emergency Medical Technician issued by the New York State Department of Health

Subject of examination

The only subject of examination will be an evaluation of your training and experience. You are, therefore, asked to include in your application a summary of all pertinent training and experience in sufficient detail so that your background may be evaluated against the duties of the position.

2 In your summary of training, include all college course work, formal in-service training, and seminars you have attended. You must specify either the number of credits received or the number of contact hours and dates of attendance. Include a copy of your professional license or documentation indicating eligibility for licensure. Specify the date that your license was first issued. Also, include a copy of your college transcripts, if applicable or required. In your summary of experience, you must specify the dates of your employment, the number of hours worked per week, your title, and the main duties for each. Be specific; vagueness and ambiguity will not be resolved in your favor. Candidates who submit incomplete applications or documentation may be disqualified. CANDIDATES WHO RECEIVE A GRADE OF 70 OR HIGHER WILL APPEAR ON THE APPROPRIATE ELIGIBLE LIST. THEIR NAME WILL BE INTERFILED ACCORDING TO GRADE A ND WILL REMAIN ON THE ELIGIBLE
LIST FOR ONE (1) YEAR.
