What the job involves
The incumbent is a New York State certified emergency responder capable of effectively delivering basic emergency care and treatment in varied, sometimes physically demanding situations to those who are sick or injured. The effectively directing, or working with, others at the emergency scene. Work is performed in the office and in the field. The work is performed under the clinical supervision of the assigned supervisor and administrative supervision of the Fire Coordinator in accordance with all applicable rules, regulations, policies, procedures and laws. Does related work as required. A non-refundable $15.00 application fee is required. Minimum qualifications
Candidates must meet the following. If you do not meet these qualifications, your application will be disapproved and your filing fee will not be refunded. Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma.

1. Emergency Medical Technician-Basic or Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) certification issued by the New York State Department of Health;
2. Possession of a valid NYS driver’s license;
3. Must authorize and execute any necessary releases to enable the appointing authority to verify licensure and driving history involving violations and/or crimes;
5. Meet the Qualifications and Competencies set forth in the EMT- NYS Department of Health for the duration of employment. SUBMIT COPIES OF YOUR EMT CERTIFICATION AND VALID NYS DRIVER’S LICENSE WITH YOUR APPLICATION.
Subject of examination
There will be no written or oral test for this examination. The training and experience of candidates will be evaluated against the background of the position. It is essential that you give complete and accurate information on the application form and training and experience questionnaire. You must also submit official college transcripts to this office by the time your name is certified.
Residency
Candidates must have been legal residents of Niagara County for at least one (1) month immediately preceding the date of the written examination and such residency must continue until the time of appointment. municipality in which the appointment is made. Non-residents may be required to become a resident of the appointing municipality if local law so states.
