Librarian II (Atap)

This is a professional library position involving specific responsibility, under limited supervision, for one or more professional aspects of library work. This position requires a strong commitment to excellence in public service. Supervision may be exercised over the work of Librarians I and non-professional staff members and volunteers. The incumbent does related work as required.

Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications at time of examination.
a) Possession of a New York State Public Librarian's Professional Certificate*; and
b) Two (2) years of professional library experience after receiving the NYS Public Librarian’s Professional Certificate. NOTE: Attach to your application a copy of your NYS Public Librarian’s Professional Certificate.

There will be no written or oral test for this examination. If you meet the minimum qualifications, you will receive a rating based upon an evaluation of your training and experience against the duties of the position being tested. Candidates must first complete an examination application and return it to the Clinton County Department of Personnel, 137 Margaret Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901, along with proof of MLS Degree and Librarian’s Professional Certificate. Approved candidates will be sent a notice containing directions to a website address needed to complete a Training and Experience Questionnaire. The Training and Experience Questionnaire will be available only to approved candidates, who will be
required to complete and submit this questionnaire. NOTE:
Candidates may be credited with training and experience gained up to the date the Training and Experience Questionnaire was submitted.

Residency has been waived for this examination. Appointing authorities may give preference for appointments to residents of Clinton County who have been so for at least thirty (30) days immediately preceding the date of appointment. The eligible list established as a result of this examination will be used to fill present and future vacancies that may occur in Clinton County departments, towns, villages, school districts and the City of Plattsburgh.
