Paramedic (Local)

Under general supervision of a Police or Fire Captain or higher level administrator, incumbents of this position respond to emergency medical requests and provide emergency medical treatment to individuals who are sick or injured and in distress in a pre-hospital setting. This position requires sound judgment and the ability to diagnose moderately complex to complex medical conditions, evaluate quality and quantity of aid required and administer appropriate emergency treatment. Supervision is not a responsibility of this class. Does related duties as required.

Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and possession of current and valid certification as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic (AEMT-P) as issued by New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.
