Supervising Public Health Nurse

This is a professional nursing position, under the supervision of the Director of Patient Services. It involves the responsibility for the provision of nursing services and the supervision of nursing practice to assure safe, effective and efficient comprehensive nursing care in homes, clinics, schools and other community facilities. Supervision of the work of assigned public health professionals or auxiliary nursing staff is required. Does related work as required.

Either:
A. A master’s degree in nursing from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university; OR
B. A bachelor’s degree in nursing from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university; and two (2) years full time paid experience, or its part time equivalent, in a public or community health setting. Special Requirement for Appointment: Possession of a New York State Registered Professional Nurse’s license.
The following must be submitted with your application:
A copy of college transcripts indicating possession of required degree (student copy is acceptable); copy of original license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse issued by the New York State Department of Education

The only subject of examination will be an evaluation of your training and experience. You are, therefore, asked to include in your application a summary of all-pertinent training and experience in sufficient detail so that your background may be evaluated against the duties of the position. In your summary of training, include all college course work, formal in-service training, and seminars you have attended. You must specify either the number of credits received or the number of contact hours and dates of attendance. Also include a copy of your professional license or documentation indicating eligibility for licensure. Specify the date that your license was first issued. In your summary of experience, you must specify the dates of your employment, the number of hours worked per week, your title, and the main duties for each. Be specific; vagueness and ambiguity will not be resolved in your favor. Candidates who submit incomplete applications or documentation may be disqualified. CANDIDATES WHO RECEIVE A GRADE OF 70 OR HIGHER WILL APPEA R ON THE APPROPRIATE ELIGIBLE LIST. THEIR NAME WILL BE INTERFILED ACCORDING TO GRADE AND WILL REMAIN ON THE ELIGIBLE
