Senior Medical Technologist (Microbiology)

Under general supervision, an incumbent of this class is responsible for performing specialized technical microbiological analyses of specimens leading to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Responsibility also involves ensuring the receipt, recording, grouping and labeling of specimens and the communication of test results to the attending physician. Work involves shift assignment and weekend rotation. May function as a lead technologist in providing technical expertise and guidance in the area of specialization over lower level technicians. Does related work as required.
