Psychiatrist

(ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)
• Renders psychiatric diagnostic, prescribing and ongoing medication management services for patients, utilizing the contributions of a multi-disciplinary team;
• May be required to provide after-hours emergency psychiatric services;
• Participates in individual therapy;
• May provide referral information to alternate placement facilities;
• May participate in in-service training of various trainees and non-professionals;
• May provide medical/legal examinations and appear as an expert witness in court proceedings;
• Reviews and approves client treatment plans as needed;
• May be required to provide services at sites other than main clinic.

(A) Possession of a current valid license or temporary permit to practice medicine issued by the New York State Education Department; AND
(B) Satisfactory completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology; AND
(C) Three years of formal or supervised training in an in-patient or out-patient mental health program; AND (D)

Seneca County’s residency requirement of residency in Seneca County or contiguous county for 30 days has been waived for this position. Candidates must be legal residents of New York State at time of application. Preference in appointment may be given to successful candidates who have been legal residents of the municipality in which appointment is to be made for at least one month prior to the date of application and are residents of such municipality at the time of appointment.
