Library Director II

The position functions as an administrator of a library, overseeing the day-to-day operations and ensuring effective and efficient service and, in addition, time may be spent in professional library service activities. The work involves carrying out broad policy as determined by the library board. Direct supervision is exercised over the work of professional and clerical staff. Incumbent does related work as required.

There will be no written or oral test for this examination. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will receive a rating based upon an evaluation of their training and experience. Candidates must first complete an examination application and return it to the Orange County Department of Human Resources. This examination consists of a rating of Training and Experience and is being administered by the New York State Department of Civil Service using the World Wide Web. Approved candidates will be sent a notice containing directions to a website address needed to complete a Training and Experience Questionnaire. The Training and Experience Questionnaire will be available only to approved candidates, who will be required to complete and submit this questionnaire. Candidates will have a minimum of two (2) weeks to complete and submit the questionnaire. NOTE: Candidates will not be able to claim any credit for training or experience to be gained after the date of submission of the training and experience questionnaire. Seniority points of 0.2 will be added to an eligible score for each year of continuous permanent competitive class service up to a maximum of twenty years. Langdon C.
