What the job involves
This work involves responsibility for providing direction and assistance to student athletes and their coaches to maintain performance with minimal risk of injury. The Athletic Trainer is a liaison between the school, students, parents and family physician. Work is performed in accordance with established guidelines under the general supervision of the Athletic Director. Incumbent does related work as required.
Minimum qualifications
Your application must clearly indicate possession of the following requirements at time of application: New York State Certification as a licensed Athletic Trainer in accordance with Article 162 of New York State Education Law. Special Requirement: For assignment in the Monroe-Woodbury School District or Warwick Valley Central School District, applicants must also possess a National Athletic Trainers Association Certificate. Please submit a copy of your certification(s) with your application. You must submit a complete application. Be sure to answer all questions. A resume may NOT be submitted in lieu of completing the application. Applications that do not clearly indicate the required qualifications will be disapproved. Successful candidates will have their names inter-filed on a continuous recruitment eligible list in rank order regardless of the date on which the test was administered. A candidate’s eligibility will be for a period of one year beginning on the date their name was added to the list. Candidates are permitted to participate in this examination at one-year intervals. The Orange County Department of Human Resources reserves the right to terminate the continuous recruitment program at any time.

Subject of examination
There will be no written or oral test for this examination. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will receive a rating based upon an evaluation of their training and experience. Candidates must first complete an examination application and return it to the Orange County Department of Human Resources. This examination consists of a rating of Training and Experience and is being administered by the New York State Department of Civil Service using the World Wide Web. Approved candidates will be sent a notice containing directions to a website address needed to complete a Training and Experience Questionnaire. The Training and Experience Questionnaire will be available only to approved candidates, who will be required to complete and submit this questionnaire. Candidates will have a minimum of two (2) weeks to complete and submit the questionnaire. NOTE: Candidates will not be able to claim any credit for training or experience to be gained after the date of submission of the training and experience questionnaire. Langdon C.
