Registration Clerk

Under general supervision, incumbents of this class are responsible for a variety of clerical tasks related to the registration of patients in a Health Center or at the Westchester Medical Center for tests; or students at the Westchester Community College. This involves securing, compiling and verifying data for required forms, records and reports in accordance with established procedures, and the entry and update of data in an automated information system. Supervision is not a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required.

High school or equivalency diploma and one year of data entry or word processing experience, including or supplemented by one year of experience involving obtaining information from the general public or clients. SUBSTITUTION : Satisfactory completion of 30 credits* or satisfactory completion of an approved secretarial or business school may be substituted for the one year of experience.

There are no residence requirements to participate in the examination, but preference in appointment may be given to eligibles that have been residents in the appointing jurisdiction for 30 days prior to the examination and at the effective date of appointment.
