Federal and State Aid Claims Coordinator

An employee in this class is responsible for coordinating County, Federal and State Aid claims. The employee develops sources of Federal and State Aid available through various agencies to maximize reimbursement of departmental costs through Suffolk County. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed through conferences and reports. Supervision is exercised over a staff of technical and clerical employees. Does related work as required.

To be eligible, a candidate must now be serving and have served on a continuous basis with permanent or contingent permanent competitive status as a(n) Principal Federal and State Aid Claims Examiner or Assistant Federal and State Aid Claims Coordinator for at least two (2) years in the jurisdiction in which the candidate seeks promotion immediately preceding the written examination date. Provisional time immediately preceding a permanent appointment to the same title(s) will be credited.

The written test will cover
knowledge, skills, and/or abilities in such areas as:
1. Preparing written material; 2. Understanding and interpreting written material; 3. Understanding and interpreting tabular material; 4. Evaluating conclusions in light of known facts; 5. Supervision.
