What the job involves
(ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)
1. Reviews a variety of documents such as claim forms, vouchers, bills and purchase orders to determine eligibility for payment or to verify accuracy of payment made, according to defined procedures and policies.
2. Verifies all calculations and codes on documents.
3. Posts figures to appropriate accounts in hard copy or electronically and verifies all data entered.
4. Prepares correspondence, documents, records and other written material in draft form.
5. Reconciles all entries, both credits and debits.
6. Prepares simple financial or statistical reports from data entered, including status of accounts, current balances, cash received or paid.
7. Produces data needed for state and federal reimbursement claims.
8. Receives cash payments, issues receipts, prepares checks for disbursement, deposits funds into appropriate accounts, prepares reconciliation of balances and posts balances to appropriate ledgers.
9. Deposits bank receipts and transacts other banking business.
10. Contacts by telephone and correspondence clients, vendors, etc., to obtain additional information.
11. Provides routine information orally or in writing in response to inquiries on financial records.
12. Files and maintains all records related to processing of payrolls, invoices, vouchers, bills and correspondence.
13. Receives balances and audits payroll time records.
14. Makes arithmetic calculations.
15. Operates calculator, computer and other related office equipment.
Minimum qualifications
Graduation from high school AND One (1) year of full time work experience, or its part time equivalent, which must include as a regularly occurring function of the job some financial account keeping duties, such as reconciling bank statements, posting to ledgers, making entries to journals or checking vouchers and purchase orders for arithmetical accuracy and completeness.

Residency
Candidates must have been legal residents of Seneca County or one of the six contiguous counties for one month preceding the date of application. Preference in appointment may be given to successful candidates who have been legal residents of the municipality in which appointment is to be made for at least one month prior to the date of certification and are residents of such municipality at the time of appointment.
Location
Applications will be accepted continuously with tests being scheduled by the Seneca County Personnel Office. Names of eligibles will be inserted, according to their final rating, on such list from time to time as applicants are tested and found qualified on the examinations held at such intervals.
