Custodian (Continuous Recruitment Examination)

The work of employees in this class is distinguished by responsibility for the efficient and economical cleaning and maintenance of a small school building or for a larger building on an assigned shift. Work is performed under general supervision with some leeway for use of independent judgment in keeping the building up to approved standards of cleanliness and operation. Supervision may be exercised over the work of a small number of cleaning or custodial personnel. A Custodian does related work as required. Typical Qualifications RESIDENCY: Candidates must have been legal residents of the following jurisdiction(s) for at least four months immediately preceding the date of the written test: Livingston County, or One of the following Counties: Allegany, Genesee, Monroe, Ontario, Steuben or Wyoming Applicants must meet all requirements in order to be approved for examination and/or appointment: Qualification Option # 1 Training/Education None required. General experience One year of full-time paid building, cleaning, or maintenance experience. Supervisory experience None required. License/ Certification N.A. Other requirements None required. Part-time service will be given prorated credit toward experience requirements.
