Physical Therapist Assistant

An incumbent in this position is a skilled technical health care worker who assists the physical therapist in the provision of physical therapy services. The incumbent may perform physical therapy procedures and related tasks that have been selected, delegated and will be periodically reassessed by the supervising registered physical therapist. The incumbent does related work as required.

Candidates must meet the minimum
qualifications at time of examination. Either:
(a) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s Degree in a program for a Physical Therapist Assistant; or
(b) Satisfactory completion of Certified Physical Therapist Assistant curriculum and certified by the New York State Education Department as a Physical Therapist Assistant. The only subject of examination will be an evaluation of your training and experience. You must complete all sections of the exam application. Failure to complete all sections of the application or leaving blanks in certain areas of the application may result in insufficient information to give you credit for education and experience. You are responsible for submitting all pertinent training and experience in sufficient detail so that your background may be evaluated against the duties of the position.

Residency has been waived for this examination. Appointing authorities may give preference for appointment to residents of Clinton, Essex, Warren or Washington Counties who have been so for at least thirty (30) days immediately preceding the date of appointment. The eligible list established as a result of this examination will be used to fill present and future vacancies that may occur in Clinton County departments, towns, villages, school districts and the City of Plattsburgh.
