Minimum qualifications
NOTE: Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience. Eight (8) years of professional accounting experience in work involving the installation, operation, and keeping of a large-scale system of accounts, including or supplemented by twenty-one (21) semester credit hours in professional accounting subjects. OR Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by twenty-one (21) semester hour credits in professional accounting subjects; and four (4) years of the above-mentioned professional experience. You must indicate either possession of a degree or total number of college credits completed to date on your application. Failure to do so will result in ineligibility. Appointees must provide proof to the Appointing Authority that they satisfy the education requirement at the time of certification. Failure to indicate and provide proof to the Appointing Authority of satisfying the education requirement will result in rejection from the examination process. OR Possession of a current, valid certificate as a Municipal Finance Officer issued by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, Division of Local Government Services; and four (4) years of the above-mentioned professional experience. Please ensure to provide details of your license on your application. Failure to indicate possession of a current license as of the closing date will result in ineligibility. You may be required to provide a copy of a valid license upon appointment. NOTE: "Professional experience" refers to work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the profession's principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the authority to act according to one's own judgment and make accurate and informed decisions. LICENSE: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position. The responsibility for ensuring that employees possess the required motor vehicle license, commensurate with the class and typeof vehicles they operate, rests with the Appointing Authority.
