What the job involves

This is a professional, supervisory position that involves responsibility for supervising the psychiatric and medical personnel of the Mental Health Department. The incumbent participates in the development of policy, provides medical input in quality assurance activities, and participates in program evaluation. The work is done under the general direction of the Director of Community Mental Health Services. Does related work as required.

Minimum qualifications

A. Possession of a license to practice medicine in the State of New York; AND
B. Completion of residency in psychiatry; AND
C. Three years of post licensure experience in an inpatient or outpatient mental health program, or related experience; AND
D. Demonstrated intention to complete all certification requirements of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and documentation of advancement in this process.
The following must be submitted with your application:
A copy of original license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State; and a copy of certificate indicating satisfactory completion of a Residency in Psychiatry; and documentation demonstrating intent to complete all certification requirements of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology

Subject of examination

The only subject of examination will be an evaluation of your training and experience. You are, therefore, asked to include in your application a summary of all-pertinent training and experience in sufficient detail so that your background may be evaluated against the duties of the position. In your summary of training, include all college course work, formal in-service training, and seminars you have attended. You must specify either the number of credits received or the number of contact hours and dates of attendance. Also include a copy of your professional license or documentation indicating eligibility for licensure. Specify the date that your license was first issued. In your summary of experience, you must specify the dates of your employment, the number of hours worked per week, your title, and the main duties for each. Be specific; vagueness and ambiguity will not be resolved in your favor. Candidates who submit incomplete applications or documentation may be disqualified. CANDIDATES WHO RECEIVE A GRADE OF 70 OR HIGHER WILL APPEAR ON THE APPROPRIATE ELIGIBLE LIST. THEIR NAME WILL BE INTERFILED ACCORDING TO GRADE AND WILL REMAIN ON THE ELIGIBLE
LIST FOR ONE (1) YEAR.
