Code Enforcement Supervisor

An employee in this class works under the direction of an administrative supervisor. The incumbent is responsible for planning and directing the code enforcement activities of the jurisdiction, and is exclusive of the enforcement of Vehicle and Traffic laws as well as all other Suffolk County and/or New York State laws. This is NOT a law enforcement position. Does related work as required.

To be eligible, a candidate must now be serving and have served on a continuous basis with permanent or contingent permanent competitive status as a Senior Code Enforcement Officer for at least four (4) years or as an Assistant Code Enforcement Supervisor for at least two (2) years in the jurisdiction in which the candidate seeks promotion immediately preceding the written

The written test will cover knowledge, skills, and/or abilities in such
areas as:
1. Preparing written material; 2. Inspection procedures and principles; 3. Understanding and interpreting building plans and requirements; 4. Understanding and interpreting codes and ordinances; 5. Administrative supervision; 6. Administration.
