Senior Assessment Clerk

The work involves specialization in some of the more difficult work in the assessment office and/or supervision of subordinate assessment clerks. The employees maintain current real property tax records which have been converted from a manually managed system to a computerized tax and assessment system. In addition, the employee is trained in general assessment office duties and fills in for absent workers as needed. Work is supervised by the departmental administrators. Performs related work as required.

To be eligible, a candidate must now be serving and have served on a continuous basis with permanent or contingent permanent competitive status as an Assessment Clerk for at least two (2) years in the jurisdiction in which the candidate seeks promotion immediately preceding the written examination date. Provisional time immediately preceding a permanent appointment to the same title(s) will be credited.

The written test will cover knowledge,
skills and/or abilities in such areas as:
1. Name and number checking; 2. Operations with letters and numbers; 3. Customer service; 4. Working with office records.
