What the job involves

This is advanced technical work that involves the coordination of computer system projects and the installation, configuration and support of a wide range of information technology equipment within a networked environment. The position also includes providing system support, training end users and diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues. The work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-level administrator. Work guidance (e.g., lead work) may be provided to others. Does related work as required. Minimum qualifications

At the time of examination, you must have:
1. Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and six (6) years of paid work experience which involved hands-on implementation, development or operation of computer programs as a major function of the work (major function of the work is defined as 50% or more of the day-to-day work experience); or
2. An Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Data Processing, Information Technology or comparable degree and four (4) years of paid work experience which involved hands-on implementation, development or operation of computer programs as a major function of the work (major function of the work is defined as 50% or more of the day-to-day work experience); or
3. A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Data Processing, Information Technology or comparable degree and two (2) years of paid work experience which involved hands-on implementation, development or operation of computer programs as a major function of the work (major function of the work is defined as 50% or more of the day-to-day work experience).

Subject of examination

There will be no written test for this examination. Your score will be based on an evaluation of your training and experience. To be considered, you must submit the required Training and Experience Questionnaire by 11:59 PM EST on October 31, 2026. The questionnaire will be available October 1, 2026.

Residency

Candidates must be legal residents of the States of New York, New Jersey or Connecticut at the time of application submission for the examination.

Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, Rockland County Department of General Services, Finkelstein Memorial Library, Pearl River Public Library, Rockland BOCES, and Town of Clarkstown. Some of the agencies listed above may not have vacancies or be filling their vacancies at this time.
