What the job involves

This is technical work involving responsibility for providing specialized computer and audiovisual services and support. Duties include the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of computer hardware, software, peripherals and specialized audiovisual equipment in networked and stand-alone environments. The incumbent also provides technical assistance and training to end users and supports the operation and maintenance of multimedia and audiovisual systems. The work is performed under the general supervision of a higher- level information technology employee or administrator. Work guidance (e.g., lead work) is exercised over lower-level technical and support staff. Does related work as required. Minimum qualifications

At the time of examination, you must have:
1. Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and six (6) years of paid work experience diagnosing, troubleshooting and supporting computer hardware, software and related technology systems, including at least one (1) year involving the setup and support of audiovisual equipment; or
2. An Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Audiovisual Technology, Digital Media Production, Multimedia or Communication Technology or comparable degree and four (4) years of paid work experience diagnosing, troubleshooting and supporting computer hardware, software and related technology systems, including at least one (1) year involving the setup and support of audiovisual equipment; or
3. A Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Audiovisual Technology, Digital Media Production, Multimedia or Communication Technology or comparable degree and two (2) years of paid work experience diagnosing, troubleshooting and supporting computer hardware, software and related technology systems, including at least one (1) year involving the setup and support of audiovisual equipment.

Subject of examination

There will be no written test for this examination. Your score will be based on an evaluation of your training and experience. To be considered, you must submit the required Training and Experience Questionnaire by 11.59 PM EST on October 31, 2026. The questionnaire will be available October 1, 2026.

Residency

Candidates must be legal residents of the States of New York, New Jersey or Connecticut at the time of application submission for the examination.
