Speech Pathologist

This is a professional position involving responsibility for the evaluation of the communication functions and disabilities of patient* in a health care facility and for providing treatment to restore or improve communication effectiveness by utilizing a team of specialists concerned with the individual and the disorder. The work is performed upon the written order or referral of a physician who provides medical direction. The Speech Pathologist is responsible to the facility administrator for the operation of the department. Supervision of others is not normally a function of this position. Provides comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of language, voice and speech disorders. Does related work as required. *The term "patient" should be changed to "resident" when position is used in health related facilities.

Licensed and currently registered by the New York State Education Department as a Speech Pathologist. – please enclose a copy of your license with your application.

There will be no written or oral test for this examination. The training and experience of candidates will be evaluated against the background of the position. It is essential that you give complete and accurate information on the application form and training and experience questionnaire. Candidates must have been legal residents of Niagara County or a contiguous county for at least one (1) month immediately preceding the date of the written examination and such residency must continue until the time of appointment.
