What the job involves
The work involves responsibility for the performance of moderately difficult clerical duties. Employees generally follow a prescribed routine in the performance of moderately difficult financial record keeping duties. Unusual problems or situations not previously encountered are referred to supervisors. Specific instructions may be given for new or unusual assignments. The work differs from that of a Senior Account Clerk in that this position does not classify expenditures, prepare accounts payables, record payments for accounts receivables, or maintain and review financial records. Direct supervision may be exercised over the work of one or more clerical employees. The work is performed under general supervision of the assigned supervisor, permitting the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out details of the work. In the County service, this employee is primarily involved in overseeing a complex clerical procedure which may not involve steady or recurring supervisory responsibilities. A Senior Clerk does related work as assigned. Typical Qualifications RESIDENCY: Candidates must have been legal residents of the following jurisdiction(s) for at least four months immediately preceding the date of the written test: Livingston County, or One of the following Counties: Allegany, Genesee, Monroe, Ontario, Steuben or Wyoming
Minimum qualifications
Applicants must meet all requirements described in the following table in order to be approved for examination and/or appointment: Qualification Option # 1 Training/Education Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma. General experience Two years of full-time, paid experience in a clerical position. Supervisory experience N.A. License/Certification None required. Other requirements N.A. Part-time service will be given prorated credit toward experience requirements. EDUCATIONAL DEGREE : If an educational degree is a minimum qualification for this title, you may be approved to take the examination if you are within 12 months of attaining the educational degree. In order to be conditionally approved, you will need to clearly indicate on your application for examination the degree you expect to receive and the date on which you expect to receive it. If your application is conditionally approved, you will be issued an admission letter and will be permitted to take the examination on the scheduled date. You must provide to the Livingston County Human Resources Department proof of your receipt of the required educational degree. You will be restricted from certification for permanent appointment until such time that the educational requirement is met. Exam fees will not be refunded.
