What the job involves
(illustrative only) Repairs, adjusts, maintains, and cleans micro-computer equipment; Troubleshoots, tests, and repairs micro-computers, disc drivers, printers, monitors, and other related equipment; Analyzes and repairs electronic defects; May demonstrate and instruct students and teachers in the use of computer equipment and peripherals; Performs field repairs to micro-computers and peripheral equipment; Provides telephone support for micro-computer problems; Maintains an inventory of repair and computer-related equipment; Keeps records and makes reports.
Minimum qualifications
Candidates must meet the following requirements on or before the date of the test. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and one year of experience in the repair and maintenance of micro-computers or other electronic equipment. NOTE: Study in a regionally accredited college, university, or technical institute in electronic, micro-computer, or electrical technology may be substituted for the experience stated above. NOTE: CANDIDATES WHO WILL OBTAIN THE MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS WITHIN 12 MONTHS OF THE DATE OF THE WRITTEN EXAMINATION SHALL BE PERMITTED
TO SIT FOR THE EXAMINATI ON.

Help Desk Computer Programming Network Administration Business/Systems Analysis Microcomputer Repair User Support This examination is being prepared and rated by the New York State Department of Civil Service in accordance with Section 23-2 of the Civil Service Law. The provisions of the New York State Civil Service Rules and Regulations dealing with the rating of examinations will apply to this written test.

Individuals wishing to claim this waiver of fee must complete an Application Fee Waiver Request and Certification Form.
