Minimum qualifications
This exam is being re-opened strictly for applicants who meet the following: Candidates who are currently serving as permanent Sergeant Officer or Correction Sergeant of the Erie County Sheriff's Department who have a combined total continuous permanent competitive status equaling 24 months , which may include permanent competitive status as a Correction Officer or Deputy Sheriff-Officer and in addition EITHER,
A) Completion of 60 semester credit hours* from a college or university at time of appointment; OR
B) Completion of 30 semester credit hours* from a college or university and completion of one year of active duty* military service (See Notes 2, 3 and 5) at time of appointment; OR
C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B). *Please note candidates are required to be a permanent Correction Officer or Deputy Sheriff-Officer at time of appointment to Deputy Sheriff-Criminal.
