What the job involves
This work involves responsibility for the provision of nursing services and supervision of nursing practices to assure safe, effective and efficient comprehensive nursing care in homes, clinics, schools and other community facilities. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Patient Services with leeway for the exercise of independent judgment. The incumbent supervises the work of assigned public health professional or auxiliary nursing staff. The incumbent does related work as required.
Minimum qualifications
Candidates must be currently employed in the Clinton County Health Department in a permanent full-time competitive class position for one (1) year as a Public Health Nurse II (or two (2) years of part-time equivalent) , or in a permanent full-time competitive class position for two (2) years as a Public Health Nurse (or four (4) years of part-time equivalent).
Subject of examination
The only subject of examination will be an evaluation of your training and experience. You must complete all sections of the exam application. Failure to complete all sections of the application or leaving blanks in certain areas of the application may result in insufficient information to give you credit for education and experience. You are responsible for submitting all pertinent training and experience in sufficient detail so that your background may be evaluated against the duties of the position. If you have applied to take a written test announced by either one or several local jurisdictions (county, town, city) scheduled to be held on the same test date as this written test, you must notify each of the local jurisdictions no later than two weeks before the test date, so they can make arrangements for taking all tests at one test site. If you have applied to take a written test announced by New York State scheduled to be held on the same test date as this written test, you must notify us no later than two weeks before the test date. All examinations for positions in State government will be held at a State examination center. Be sure to check “Yes” in the Conflicting Exams Section on the first page of your application and include in the Remarks Section on page four the titles of the exams you are scheduled to take and whether they are offered by another Local agency or New York State. If you are taking two Local exams, indicate in which county you want to take the exams. If you are taking a Local and a State exam, you must take the exams at the State site. You must call our office at 565-4676 no later than two weeks prior to the examination date to confirm that arrangements have been made for you to take all the examinations at one test site. You will be advised by letter when and where to report for your examinations.
Location
The eligible list established as a result of this examination will be used to fill present and future vacancies that may occur in the Clinton County Health Department only. For Supervising Public Health Nurse (Promotional) Continuous Recruitment Exam There is no deadline for when an application must be received.
